Double-click ChromeSetup.exe. If Windows asks for permission, confirm that you want to allow the installer to make changes. Stay online—the bootstrapper pulls the current stable package during this stage.
A progress window may appear briefly. Do not disconnect Wi-Fi mid-install. When setup ends, Chrome typically launches on its own and offers a first-run welcome screen.
Choose whether to import bookmarks and passwords from another browser, or start with a clean profile. You can change this later under Settings if you skip import now.
Signing in unlocks bookmarks, passwords, and extensions across devices. If you share the PC, create a separate profile instead of using a personal account on a common desktop.

The macOS button opens googlechrome.pkg. Open the package, follow the installer panes, and drag or confirm placement into Applications if prompted. Gatekeeper may ask you to confirm the developer. After install, launch Chrome from Applications or Spotlight, then optionally set it as the default browser in System Settings.
Mobile buttons open Google Play or the App Store. Install there so updates stay managed by the store. After install, sign in with the same account you use on desktop to pull bookmarks and passwords. On iOS, Chrome cannot replace Safari as the system WebView in every context, but it remains a strong daily browser for tabs and sync.
Linux users should open the platform picker and select the format that matches their distribution—often .deb or .rpm. Prefer repositories or package managers when available so security updates arrive with the rest of the system. Avoid mixing multiple conflicting Chrome packages on one machine.
On shared PCs, create a dedicated Chrome profile or use Guest mode for visitors. In workplaces with device management, ask IT before changing default browsers. Google Chrome download on a locked-down image may require admin rights for the first install only.
